If you choose to advertise your accommodation through external booking platforms (OTAs), the platforms charge fees for their services. This article explains what OTA costs are and how they are processed.
What are OTA costs?
OTA costs are fees charged by external booking platforms for listing and mediating bookings. The amount and method of calculation may vary per platform.
How are OTA costs processed?
Sun & Sea Holidays uses two different methods, depending on the platform.
Processed through a price increase on the platform
For some booking platforms, OTA costs are processed in advance by increasing the rental price. This ensures that you, as the owner, receive the agreed base amount without any deduction of platform fees.
As a result, the rental price on these platforms may be higher than on our own websites.
Processed via the rental statement
For some platforms, OTA costs are settled afterwards. These costs will be listed on your rental statement and deducted from the amount you receive.
This applies to, among others:
• Heerlijke Huisjes
• Vipio
Transparency on the rental statement
When OTA costs are included in the increased rental price, they are not shown separately on your rental statement. For OTAs that are settled afterwards, the costs will appear as a separate line for each reservation.
Changes in OTA fees
When external platforms change their fees or conditions, Sun & Sea Holidays adjusts the processing accordingly. If a significant change occurs, you will be informed.
